Tartan – some love it and others hate it. Every year thousands of weddings feature kilts mainly with family tartan but sometimes just with a tartan that fits the colour scheme or that the couple like. But some couples want to incorporate tartan into their wedding in a more modern and contemporary way. Lindsey Hunter of Get Knotted Weddings has joined forces with ScotlandShop.com, a tartan clothing and interior specialist to create some inspiration on how to use tartan at your wedding to create stunning wedding decor details.
If you want to use more than one tartan, this setting shows how it is possible to combine them successfully. Lindsey decided to set the 3 different Gordon tartans against the beautiful yellow laburnum trees in a stunning bohemian orchard setting.
The Gordon tartan has a beautiful stripe which makes it stand out and Lindsey painted the old chairs yellow to complement the colours. One half of the chairs were covered in Ancient Gordon tartan and the other half in Modern Gordon. There were two large curtain panels of Gordon Weathered tartan flowing from a rustic arch to create a striking frame for the registrars table. The arch was finished with flowers and greenery to create a floral curtain tie. I think this has a lovely fresh feel to it and would be perfect for an outdoor lawn wedding. Continue reading
A couple of months ago I featured the lovely engagement shoot of Faye and Chris at Alnwick Gardens. Chris, the photographer at Rennison Rae Photography, who submitted the shoot asked me if I would like to do a Rock the Frock shoot with him. Of course I jumped at the chance and told him I had always wanted to do a shoot on the beach and in the sea wearing a wedding dress…..I promise this sounded like a good idea at the time! Fastforward a few weeks to an August evening, and it was time for me to don the dress and get into the north sea.
Today I have the pleasure of featuring a “DIOR” styled shoot. Brachetto Weddings put together a crew of high-end creatives to bring her vision board to life. Minihaha of Brachetto Weddings has always been inspired by luxury designers and thought of creating a wedding around “DIOR”.
She wanted to create a photo shoot with the luxurious styling that Christian Dior is famous for. The iconic French fashion designer created haute-couture gowns using extravagant fabrics and luxury textiles, so feathers and table crystals were used to replicate that.
This luxurious shoot was originally designed to be just white and gold, but purples and soft vintages roses were added to accentuate the look and give it a more modern feel.
Today I have the pleasure of featuring a gorgeous styled shoot featuring some amazing bluebells!
Bluebell Dreaming was shot at Ashridge Forest in Devon. Ashridge was used as the Enchanted Forest in Disney’s Maleficent. The shoot was styled by Charlotte Munro and photographed by Sanshine Photography. The stunningly delicate lace dress is from Katya Katya Shehurina with models hair & makeup by Katy from The Bridal Stylists. The amazing bouquet, flower brown and flower bracelet were by by Indeco Flowers.
The Queen of the Forest photo shoot was designed by Charlotte Garratt, Amanda White and San Shawe of Sanshine Photography to create and showcase two whimsical bridal looks as inspiration for brides who want to add a splash of bohemian fairy tale into their special day.
The first look, based around a flowy silk tulle strapless gown, and complimented by a beautiful floral crown, is perfect for a magical light-infused woodland wedding ceremony, with light natural make-up and loose curls to complete this effortlessly beautiful style.
The second, more regal look is based around a unique ivory gown with beautiful beading and a high neckline, and would be an excellent choice for the evening celebrations and autumn weddings with a boho twist. Structured hair and bold lips make a statement with the gorgeous accent of a vintage crown to make any bride feel like a fairytale queen.
